Hosting Wedding Parties from Marquardt Ranch

Congratulations to Jeff & Lacy who got married at The Marquardt Ranch October 16th! We had the pleasure of hosting their family and having them stay in our Junior Suite. (So sorry that I accidentally deleted your photos taken on the hammock!)

Here are some decorating ideas for the Bride & Groom's room.
Jeff & Lacy's family & friends arrived a day early and brought beautiful gifts and notes that were arranged perfectly in their room awaiting their arrival.

Before the Bride & Groom arrived, a friend came and lit the candles, filled the tub and placed floating candles, lavender oil and rose petals in it!

And started the music...

Congratulations to Dustin & Tiffany

Dustin and Tiffany were recently married at Marquardt Ranch and stayed a couple of nights here at Rock Harbor Hill Country Lodge before leaving for their honeymoon. We were blessed to have them stay here for a quiet retreat after the wedding.

A few weeks prior to their wedding, Tiffany met her photographer, Josh Fowler here at the Lodge to take her bridal pictures. Take a look...they're awesome!

Tiffany made such a beautiful bride and it was an honor to have her choose our bed & breakfast for this special occasion.

Because we are located just a mile up the road from one of the most beautiful wedding venues in the Texas Hill Country, The Marquardt Ranch , our goal is to make Rock Harbor Hill Country Lodge a wonderful place for the bride and groom, wedding party or family members to stay.

Our first bride and groom to be, Dustin and Tiffany visited us just yesterday as they were making their final arrangements for their upcoming wedding. They're excited that they don't have to travel far to stay after their wedding!

To see the sparkle in their eyes as they shared their wedding plans thrilled our hearts. We can't wait to have them as our special guests!

I am so excited! We now have our website up...ok, I'll admit that I am the one who put it together but it's not bad considering that is something totally out of my element.

Now what is in my element of gifts is "hospitality" and making you feel welcome here at Rock Harbor Hill Country Lodge. Whether you need a break from city life and want to breath in some fresh country air, desire a romantic get-away, or the girls want to venture out to the country...this is the place to be.

Remember we are just 30 minutes from San Antonio, 15 minutes to the quaint town of Boerne, 12 minutes to the antique town of Comfort, 5 minutes to Sisterdale (home of Sister Creek Winery), 20 minutes to Luckenbach (where everybody is somebody!) and 25 minutes to Fredericksburg!!

In 2006, after living 6 years in Southern California, we knew it was time to load up the truck and move back to Texas. After all, our children live here and we were married here so it just made sense. So with our truck loaded up with just the essentials (everything else went into storage) we headed East for the Lone Star State. As we passed through the little towns of Fredericksburg and Comfort, deep in the heart of the Texas Hill Country, we immediately fell in love with them. We landed in the quaint town of Boerne where we found a small furnished home to lease. (It's pretty amazing how simple life becomes when you don't have all the "stuff" that clutters your daily life.)

As we pulled into town, we knew we were home. Having grown up as a "city girl", originally from Atlanta, I couldn't wait to experience "country" life and the "small town" atmosphere.

A month into our house hunting I located a true Hill Country rock home centrally located between Boerne and Comfort. We always like to use the phrase, "we are located near Welfare but live close to Comfort!

Upon our first visit, it was love at first sight even though it didn't have all the amenities of the new home I desired. Built as a replica German home with 20" rock walls from stone quarried nearby, this stone house had no central air or heat, no laundry room, an outdated kitchen, only two bedrooms and ONE closet. (In the 1800's who needed walk-in closets? They used wardrobes or armoires as storage.)

As I began taking in all of the character this house offered, the exterior structure made of stone quarried from the Sisterdale area, the interior rock walls which also house small rock art niches, the huge front doors re milled from an old water tank, the antique interior doors, the grand rock fireplace, the stone floors throughout the front section and the little bird nest that was left long after the eggs hatched on the wall that is now our family room...I knew it had potential! And with a little creativity, and a whole lot of love, sweat, and TEARS, this house became a "home", our home. And the one we appropriately call, ROCK HARBOR LODGE, a refuge from the storms of life.

2 Samuel 22:2 (New International Version)says, "The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer."

And now, we are opening our big REDdoors to say, "Welcome" to a safe place. A place where you can unwind from the cares of this world, relax on the hammock and take that much needed nap (Hey, I'll even let you use one of my old quilts if you'd like), kick your boots up and just sit awhile and breath that good ole fresh country air. And at night you might just wanna sit by the fire pit and count all the stars God hung in the bright Texas sky! What could be better than that? Let me know when you wanna come...I'll leave the porch light on for ya and the sweet tea will be waitin' for ya in the frig!
